High School Coaches polls are out

MATTOON – The Illinois High School Coaches Association has released its 2014 Pre-Season Coaches Poll.

The battle in Class 2A has Maroa Forsyth seated at No. 6, Teutopolis at No. 9 followed by Casey-Westfield at No. 11 and Carmi ranked 17th. Others receiving votes include Tri-Valley, Clinton, Monticello. Nashville is ranked No. 1.

Both Bailey Martin and Brenna Finck start at Maroa Forsyth while Allison Apke, Kadi and Anni Borris play for Teutopolis. Brigette Belt, Lexie Black, Conner Cutright, Darian Morgan and Kyliegh Decker are on the field for Casey-Westfield. Kaylea Chappelle starts for Carmi. All of those players are on the Premier 16U Black Roster.

In Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony is ranked No. 11. Premier 16U Orange’s Jenna Woltman will be a freshman on the team that sat at No. 20 last season with a regional title under it’s belt. Area team Toledo Cumberland who placed second in the IHSA State Series last year is at the No. 1 spot in the poll.

While Orange teammates Megan Tool and Haley Ginger both compete at Clinton, Ally Wiegand plays for Tri-Valley and Sophie Catlin is at Monticello. Kaley Maurer is also at Maroa-Forsyth.
