Premier Fastpitch wins prestigious Fireworks Tourney

AURORA, COLO.  – Premier Fastpitch 16U Paulson beat Nebraska Gold 5-2 on Sunday for the championship title 

in the 47th Annual Triple Crown Sports Colorado Firecracker Tournament.
The Firecracker has over 260 Teams in four divisions and attracts over 600 college coaches from across the nation.

In the Championship game, Premier captured the lead in the first inning after Makenzie Pence led off with a single. Brooke Tuttle then reached on an error by the third baseman scoring Pence. Tuttle then scored on another error by the third baseman and Premier was up 2-0.

Nebraska Gold knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the third inning when they homered with two outs in the third inning.

Premier took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning when Dayna Kennedy doubled off of the Nebraska pitcher, driving in two runs and then Macey McElravy grounded out, scoring one run.

Premier collected eight hits. Pence had three and Zoie Bowman two. Kennedy led the team with two runs batted in on a double.

Kia Hanner pitched all seven innings with six hits, six strikeouts, one walk and two earned runs.

Premier travels to the Triple Crown/USA Nationals on ESPN3 in Austin, Texas which starts Monday. The group will then head to USA 16U Nationals in Clearwater, FL before ending the season with PGF Midwest Regional Championships in Peoria, IL.

Premier Fastpitch 3, NW Indiana Sox Fastpitch 1

Madison Eberle threw seven innings, giving up one run, five hits, and striking out three for the Premier win.

Jill Anderson, McElravy, and Cami Newbanks each drove in one run to lead Premier.

Premier Fastpitch 5, Corona Angels – CA 4

Hanner scored the win for Premier. She tossed seven innings, allowing four runs, seven hits, and striking out six.

Premier had eight hits in the game. McElravy, Kennedy, and Newbanks each had several hits for Premier. Kennedy led with two runs batted in. She went 2-for-4 on the day.

Premier Fastpitch 9, Louisville Cyclones 3

Hanner was the winning pitcher. She pitched five innings, surrendering one run, two hits, and striking out three.

Premier had 16 hits in the game. Pence, Davis, Kennedy, Denead Santini, McElravy, and Anderson each collected multiple hits for Premier. Kennedy led Premier with three runs batted in. She went 2-for-4 on the day. Premier didn’t commit a single error in the field.

Premier Fastpitch 7, Chicago Cheetahs 2

Premier scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by McElravy and a single by Bowman.

Hanner threw four innings, allowing one run, four hits, striking out four, and walking one.

Premier collected 11 hits. McElravy, Kennedy, and Pence each managed two hits to lead Premier.

Premier Fastpitch 7, Monarchs – CA 1

Claire Maulding earned the win for Premier. She went seven innings, giving up one run, two hits, striking out two, and walking zero.

Premier had 12 hits in the game. Pence, Tuttle, Kennedy, and Santini each gathered multiple hits for Premier. Santini led Premier with three runs batted in. She went 2-for-4 on the day.

TC Tremors NY 3, Premier Fastpitch 2

Eberle took the loss for Premier. She pitched six innings, allowing three runs, seven hits, and striking out three.

McElravy and Newbanks each drove in one run to lead Premier. Premier was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. McElravy had the most chances in the field with ten.

Premier Fastpitch 1, Finesse Carson 0

Hanner earned the win for Premier. She went seven innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, and striking out five.

Santini led Premier with two hits in two at bats.

Premier Fastpitch 2, Midland Magic 1

Hanner earned the win for Premier. She tossed seven innings, allowing one run, six hits, striking out ten, and walking one.

Premier had eight hits in the game. Bowman, Kennedy, and Pence each put together two hits to lead Premier.

Premier Fastpitch 12, California Angels 9

Premier defeated California Angels 12-9 in a back-and-forth affair on Thursday. The game was tied at five with Premier batting in the top of the fifth when McElravy homered off of the Angels pitcher, driving in two runs.

McElravy led Premier to victory by driving in five runs. She went 2-for-4 at the plate. McElravy drove in runs on a home run in the fifth and a home run in the sixth. Premier collected 15 hits. Kennedy and McElravy each had two hits while Tuttle and Pence each managed three.

Eberle earned the win for Premier. She threw five innings, allowing nine runs, 11 hits, and striking out one.

Premier Fastpitch 7, Nemesis 2

Eberle earned the win for Premier. She threw two innings, allowing two runs, and three hits.

McElravy, Anderson, Kennedy, Tuttle, Eberle, Pence, and Bailey Davis all had one hit to lead Premier.

Premier Fastpitch 14, Minnesota Irish Gold 0

Anderson led Premier to victory by driving in four runs. She went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double in the second and a single in the third.

Premier scored eight runs in the third inning. Premier’s big inning was driven by a error, a single by Makenzie Reedy, a single by Anderson, a double by Bowman, and a single by Maulding.

Maulding earned the win for Premier. She went three innings, allowing zero runs, zero hits, and striking out four.

 

Premier Fastpitch 16U Paulson is comprised mainly of players from the central-Illinois area: Jillian Anderson, Rochester; Zoie Bowman, Decatur; Bailey Davis, Mt Zion; Madison Eberle, Gibson City; Kia Hanner, Taylor Springs; Dayna Kennedy, Decatur; Claire Maulding, Casey; Macey McElravy, Charleston; Cami Newbanks, Oreana; Makenzie Pence, St Joseph; Makenzie Reedy, Monticello; Denaed Santini, Lexington, SC; Brooke Tuttle, Sullivan.

Premier Fastpitch began as one team in the fall of 2011. The organization now fields six teams— an 18U, three 16U, a 14U and a 12U. Premier Fastpitch is based in Mattoon, IL and is under the direction of Kristi and Dan Paulson.
