Premier Fastpitch still undefeated with another championship under their belt

BOWLING GREEN, KY – Premier Fastpitch 18U continues to roll through the season with another championship title at the Bowling Green USA/ASA National Qualifier at Michael O’Bannon Park in Kentucky.

Premier Fastpitch went 4-0 on Saturday with a 12-0 win over Team Worth in the title game. The team is now 23-0 for the summer season.

PF 12, Team Worth 0

Premier jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first with hits by Brenna Finck, Jenna Woltman, Kyleigh Decker, double by Brigette Belt and Woltman with a triple. Belt was 2-3 with four RBIs. Baylee Sparks pitched the four inning game walking no-one, striking out one and only giving up three hits in the shut-out.

PF 10, Louisville Stunners 2

Finck, Decker and Allison Apke combined for seven hits and two RBIs. Louisville Stunners managed just one hit off of Kaylea Chappelle, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out one during her four innings of work.

Premier tacked on another five runs in the third. Conner Cutright singled, bringing home Mycaela Miller and Apke to start the inning. That was followed up by Woltman’s single, plating Cutright.

PF 8, Team Worth 0

Kadi Borries threw a shutout to carry Premier to an 8-0 victory over Team Worth in six innings. Borries racked up 10 strikeouts, gave up just two hits over six shutout innings. Premier had 12 hits. Miller racked up two RBIs on a single in the fourth inning and a triple in the sixth inning. Finck had three singles. Chappelle also chipped in a double and a single. Borries and Apke also added two RBIs a piece.

PF 4, Louisville Stunners 1

Chappelle racked up three RBIs on three hits. She singled in the second and third innings and homered in the fifth inning. Belt also had three hits while Apke had two.

Sparks recorded the win. She allowed one run over three innings. She struck out three, walked none and surrendered three hits.

The team is schedule to play this weekend at the BNGSA Meatheads Firecracker Tournament in Normal, then to defend their USA/ASA State Title July 15-18. Their schedule rounds out with a stop at the Mattoon Mattoon Bagelfest at the Roundhouse Complex July 22-24 and then the finale at USA/ASA 18U A Nationals in Bloomington, IN in late July.

About Premier Fastpitch

The core of this team has been together since 2011 with coaches Kristi and Dan Paulson when they won both the 14U ASA A State and NSA A State titles in 2012. Last season they won the 18U USA/ASA A State Title after finishing runner-up at 16U in 2014.

The team includes 2016 area high school graduates from Casey-Westfield, Brigette Belt, Conner Cutright and Kyleigh Decker. Belt is to attend Parkland College with Lexie Black her high school and former Premier teammate. Cutright is to go to Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and Decker will be at Southern Illinois-Carbondale. Allison Apke, Anni Borries and Kadi Borries played at Teutopolis. Apke is headed to Bradley University while both Borries are to be rostered on the Illinois State University Squad. Kaylea Chappelle finished her prep career at Carmi-White and is to go to Saint Louis University in the fall. Baylee Sparks has signed with Rose Hulman Institute of Technology after playing at Oblong this spring.

Bailey Martin and Brenna Finck are coming off great freshman seasons at Indiana State and Murray State, respectively. They both played high school ball at Maroa-Forsyth.

Jenna Woltman and Mycaela Miller are to graduate high school next spring. Woltman from St. Anthony has already verballed to Butler University where former Premier team member Cheyenne Thompson (Marshall) just finished up a stellar freshman year. Miller from Hammond (ALAH) is the only teammate that hasn’t verballed and is mulling over offers.

Premier Fastpitch began as one team in the fall of 2011. The organization now fields an 18U, 16U, two 14U and a 12U teams. Premier Fastpitch is based in Mattoon, IL and is under the direction of Kristi and Dan Paulson.
