Premier Fastpitch 18U Gold competes with the best in the nation

AURORA, COLO -- Competing in the Triple Crown Sports Fastpitch Showcase in Aurora, Colo. this past week, the Premier Fastpitch 18U Gold team placed in the top 20 teams in the 46th Annual Fireworks Tournament.

Premier went 6-2. There were 1,150 teams from across the US and over 600 college coaches who attended the Colorado events. Next on the schedule is the ASA A Illinois State Tournament in Moline this coming weekend.

PF Gold 11, Battery Lightning 0

A sacrifice fly by Allison Apke, a two-run double by Anni Borries, an RBI single by Megan Tool, an RBI double by Brigette Belt, an RBI double by Kadi Borries, and an RBI triple by Haley Ginger during the first inning and an RBI single by Kyleigh Decker and a two-run home run by Anni Borries in the second inning fueled Premier’s offense early on Tuesday.

Anni Borries had three extra-base hits for Premier.

Kaylea Chappelle and Baylee Sparks both pitched and had no walks and only gave up a hit a piece in the run-rule shortend game.

PF Gold 10, Firecrackers 10

On Wednesday, Ginger was solid at the plate for Premier. Ginger went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the first and sixth innings.

Lexie Black held Firecrackers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Premier tacked on another four runs in the sixth. Kyleigh Decker kicked things off with a solo home run. That was followed up by Ginger’s single, plating Belt.

PF Gold 8, Texas Glory 0

An RBI single by Chappelle in the first inning and a two-run single by Conner Cutright and a two-run single by Apke during the second inning helped Premier put some runs on the board early on Thursday. Chappelle had three hits while Kadi Borries homered, singled and had 3 RBIs.

Black gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during her three innings of work in the circle.

PF Gold 8, Sundodgers 7

Premier scored in the first on an RBI single by Anni Borries, a three-run home run by Tool, and a solo home run by Decker. Tool racked up three RBIs on two hits also on Thursday.

Chappelle got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed two runs over five innings. She struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

PF Gold 11, Diamonds Gold 3

In Friday’s first game, Chappelle rocked the Diamonds with two home runs. She went 3-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Chappelle homered in the first, and sixth innings.

After giving up three runs in the top of the first, Premier tied the game in the third on a passed ball that scored Darian Morgan.

Premier stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fifth, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Tool and a two-run single by Decker.

PF 18U Gold 6, Battery Lightning 2

Decker went 3-3 at the plate, sparking Premier to a 6-2 victory in seven innings over the Battery Lightning Gold on Friday at Colorado.

She singled in the first inning, homered in the third inning, and doubled in the fifth inning. Apke had a double and Morgan a single

Black allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. Black struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit. Sparks gave up one run on eight hits in five innings while walking no one.

Cheetahs Premier 2, PF Gold 0

Anni Borries went 2-3 while Ginger had a double in the tough 2-0 loss for Premier on Saturday.

Chappelle pitched all seven innings on five hits, no walks, struck out five and just one earned run.

NC Challengers 4, PF Gold 3

In the top of the first, Premier grabbed the early lead, 3-0. Ginger singled to start things off before Chappelle homered, plating Ginger. The scoreboard lit up again for PF when Apke scored on an RBI single by Decker.

Chappelle racked up two RBIs on one hit for Premier. She homered in the first inning.

Chappelle worked out of five tough situations for Premier. She pitched five innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits on Saturday.

Premier Fastpitch began as one team in the fall of 2011. The organization now fields two 18U teams, a 16U and two 14U. The PF 18U Gold players are from Carmi, Casey, Clinton, Oblong and Teutopolis.
