Premier competes at ASA Hall of Fame

OKLAHOMA CITY— Taking a fifth-place finish —out of 20 teams—at the prestigious Amateur Softball Association’s Hall of Fame Tournament in Oklahoma City, the Premier Fastpitch 18-and-Under Gold team qualified for ASA’s 18U National Tournament in Spartanburg, SC.
The PF 18U Gold went 2-2 in the tournament playing some of the best competition in the country.
Game recaps
In the 7-1 win over Aloha Breeze-Combs,  Allison Apke’s RBI double spurred a four run first inning. Kyleigh Decker’s RBI single, a sac fly by Anni Borries and Megan Tool’s single all counted toward the total on Saturday.
Decker racked up two RBI’s on two singles and a double for PF Gold. Brigette Belt reached on an error and Darian Morgan  scored two runs.
Kaylea Chappelle recorded the win with five innings of shut-out ball, struck out six, walked three and only gave up one  hit.
PF Gold earned a 10-1 win over KC Elite on Sunday. Chappelle had a single, a home run and pitched for the win. She struck out two, gave up just two hits, walked none, with no earned runs. Lexie Black and Baylee Sparks also saw time in the circle. Black nabbed one inning striking out one, walked no one, two hits and no earned runs. Sparks pitched two innings struck out one, gave up two hits, walked none and had one earned run. 
Anni Borries and Tool also homered in the third inning. Black had a double while Apke had two, Conner Cutright also had two and Haley Ginger also had a hit.
PF Gold battled Gametime Stars Gold but fell 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. PF Gold had six hits, including a double by Kadi Borries but just failed to plate a runner in a well played contest.
On Monday, Tool went 2-for-3 at the plate in a 7-1 loss to Team Power ’97. PF Gold had seven hits. Kadi Borries also had two hits. 
The Amateur Softball Association, founded in 1933, is the National Governing Body of softball in the United States.  The Hall of Fame Stadium hosts the College World Series each year and is the pinnacle of fastpitch softball.
PF Gold is to travel to Colorado to play in the Triple Crown Sports Firecracker Tournament next week. 
Based in Mattoon, Premier Fastpitch began as one team in the fall of 2011. The organization now fields two 18U teams, a 16U and two 14Us. The 18U Gold Players are from Carmi, Casey, Clinton, Oblong, and Teutopolis.
The teams travel around the nation to compete at the highest levels possible. Premier Fastpitch is for players who want to push themselves to be better, not only as softball players, but as individuals.  The organization’s goal is not only to prepare for the next level, but also to develop a passion for the game and a determination to win.
