PF 16U Gold competes at top 16U national event

CHATTANOOGA, TN – This past week, Premier Fastpitch 16U Gold placed 33rd at the ASA/USA 16U A Nationals in Chattanooga, TN in the 185 team event that draws top teams from across the nation.

Premier finished out a very tough 16U A Schedule with a 35-29 record traveling to Kansas, Tennessee, Colorado, Oklahoma, Illinois and Indiana. They are the 2015 Illinois ASA 16U A State Champions.

OKC Athletics 12, PF 16U Gold 2

Despite a big day at the dish from Jenna Woltman, who finished 2-3, Premier lost 12-2 to the OKC Athletics on Friday. Anna Watson was also 2-for-3.

Premier scored two runs in the top of the fourth to cut its deficit to 10. An RBI single by Watson and an RBI single by Woltman sparked Premier’s rally.

Frost Falcons-Duggard 10, PF 16U Gold 3

Premier racked up five hits, but it wasn’t enough, as Premier lost 10-3 on Friday at the hands of Frost Falcons- Duggard.

Morgan Davis racked up three RBIs on one hit for Premier. She homered in the first inning. Mycaela Miller was 2-for-3.

Alexis Estes took the loss. She allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out one.

The bottom of the first saw Premier take an early lead, 3-0. Watson kicked things off for Premier with a single. Davis homered, scoring Miller and Watson.

PF 16U Gold 9, Team GA Hawk 6

Premier pulled out a 9-6 win in eight innings over Team GA Hawk on Thursday.

Premier took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Makayla Reedy scored Regan Gremaud and gave Premier the lead for good.

Reedy racked up three RBIs, a single, a sac fly and a home run. Miller also had a home run. 

Baleigh Koester got the win in relief. Koester pitched four innings and allowed two runs.

PF 16U Gold 13, Firecrackers HTX 5

Premier beat Firecrackers HTX on Wednesday 13-6 in six innings.

Premier scored six runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Davis, an RBI single by Calla Wickenhauser, a three-run triple by Koester, and an RBI single by Watson.

Premier finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. Premier scored on a three-run double by Reedy, plating Eryn Gould, Wickenhauser and Estes.

Jenna Woltman was perfect at the dish, going 4-4. She singled in the second, fifth, and sixth innings and tripled in the sixth inning. Gould and Wickenhauser were both 3-for-4.

Koester got the win. She struck out seven, walked two and surrendered nine hits.

Orginals – Shanks 8, PF 16U Gold 4

Woltman did all she could to give Premier a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past the Originals, as Premier lost 8-4 in six innings on Tuesday.

Woltman got on base three times in the game for Premier. She scored two runs and had one RBI. She singled in the fifth and sixth innings.

Estes walked none, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

PF 16U Gold 15, Kentucky Stealth 5

An 11-run explosion in the first inning lifted Premier to a 15-5 win in four innings over Kentucky Stealth on Monday.

Premier scored in the first on a three-run home run by Miller, a walk by Watson, a two-run single by Woltman, an RBI single by Wickenhauser. Miller racked up five RBIs on two hits for Premier.

Koester recorded the win for Premier. She struck out seven, walked four and gave up five hits.

Premier Fastpitch 16U Gold is coached by Denise Prather and Sara Bradley. Players are from Carterville, Clinton, Effingham, Mt. Carmel, Mt. Zion, Monticello, Maroa, Hammond, and Tuscola.
