PF'01 finishes 7th at A Northern Nationals

BOWLING GREEN, KY – Premier Fastpitch 14U 2001 finished seventh at ASA 14U A Northern Nationals in Bowling Green, KY July 22-26. There were 50 teams competing at the tournament.

PF ’01 finished the year 57-31-1 competing in a tough schedule that took them to Tennessee, Kansas, Indiana and throughout Illinois. They are the 2015 Illinois NSA 14U A State Champions and also took first in other tournaments.

Mayhem 10, Premier 1

Despite Dayna Kennedy’s 2-3 performance at the plate on Saturday, Premier took a 10-1 loss at the hands of Mayhem.

Premier scored its only run of the game on an RBI single by Cami Newbanks in the fourth inning.

Premier 5, Chattanooga Force 2

Premier ended up on top with a 5-2 win in seven innings over Chattanooga Force.

Newbanks paced Premier at the plate. Newbanks went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. She tripled in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning. Zoie Bowman and Bailey Davis also each had triples.

Macey McElravy was a workhorse on the rubber for Premier. McElravy pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out one.

Premier 3, Indiana Matrix 2

Kia Hanner brought home the winning run to give Premier the lead in the sixth inning, as Premier hung on to beat Indiana Matrix 3-2 on Saturday.

Kennedy singled to get on base in the sixth. She then went from first to second on a single by Bowman.

Kennedy was hot from the plate for Premier. Kennedy went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. She doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Hanner handled Indiana Matrix’s lineup with ease, racking up 10 strikeouts. Hanner allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings.

Premier 4, Fusion 2

Four first-inning runs helped Premier to a 4-2 win over Fusion on Saturday.

Premier scored in the first on an RBI triple by Kennedy, a groundout by Newbanks, and an error. Bowman was 1-for-2 with a walk while Davis and Kennedy were 1-for-3. Kennedy had an RBI. Reagan Miller was also 1-for-2.

Pitcher Kia Hanner struck out seven, gave up eight hits and walked one.

Midwest Intensity 3, Premier 1

Premier couldn’t capitalize on a great day from Hanner on Friday, losing 3-1 to Midwest Intensity in eight innings.

Hanner baffled Midwest Intensity, striking out 13 batters. Hanner allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk over eight innings.

Premier managed to score one run in the third inning on a groundout by Makenzie Reedy. Bowman and Hanner had Premier’s only two hits of the contest.

Premier 7, Blue Ice 0

Premier jumped out to an early lead on Blue Ice and captured a 7-0 victory on Friday.

A groundout by Newbanks, an RBI single by Hanner, and a groundout by Payton Melton in the second inning fueled Premier’s offense early.

Davis went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for Premier. She doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the first, second, and sixth innings. Bowman had a triple. Jaden Corley had an RBI.

Premier’s McElravy kept Blue Ice off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up two.

Premier 7, Wisconsin Rebels 0

Premier beat Wisconsin Rebels on Thursday 7-0 in seven innings.

Premier scored three runs in the fourth on Premier scored in the fourth on an RBI triple by Bowman and an error.

Newbanks racked up three RBIs on one hit for Premier. She tripled in the first inning.

Premier’s McElravy kept Wisconsin Rebels off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on six hits while ringing up three.

Premier converted a triple play in the second inning.

Premier 5, Chattanooga Force 01 3

Premier outlasted Chattanooga Force 01 on Wednesday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 5-3 win.

Premier took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory.

McElravy was hot from the plate for Premier. McElravy went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning. Kennedy was also 2-for-3. Melton, Miller and Grace Trello each walked.

Kia Hanner handled Chattanooga Force 01’s lineup with ease, racking up 11 strikeouts. Hanner allowed one earned run on six hits and four walks over seven innings.

Premier Fastpitch 14U 2001 is coached by Tip Reedy and Billy Corley. The ’01 players are from Charleston, Decatur, Forsyth, Hammond, Monticello, Mt. Zion, Oreana, Sherman and Taylor Springs.
