On the quest for gold: Premier Fastpitch competes at Olathe KS

(OLATHE, KAN.) The Premier Fastpitch Orange and Black 16U Teams traveled to Olathe, Kan. for an ASA Gold Qualifier this past weekend, each team went 2-2 in the 24-team event. Both teams are to compete in Triple Crown Sports Tournaments in Colorado this coming week. The tournaments are one of the premier showcase tournaments in the country.

PF Orange fall to Oklahoma Athletics 8-4

PF Orange jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. A single by Anna Watson, scoring Jenna Woltman started the inning off. Leah Allison suffered the loss. She lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

PF Orange tops Team Power in back-and-forth affair, 4-3

PF Orange squeaked out a 4-3 win Sunday after seven lead changes against Team Power.

The bottom of the third saw PF Orange take an early lead, 1-0. Katherine Kennedy got things going for PF Orange with a single. A groundout by Madalyn Cooper then moved Kennedy from first to second. Mycaela Miller doubled, plating Kennedy.

PF Orange managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. The team went up for good on an RBI single by Haley Ginger, bringing home Kennedy.

Wiegand’s effort not enough to carry PF Orange past Oklahoma Force, 3-0

Oklahoma Force managed just three hits off of Ally Wiegand, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her 2 1/3 innings of work. Allison took the loss. She lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.

PF Orange hangs on against the Oklahoma Cardinals, 4-2

Ginger boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 4-4 day at the plate to pace PF Orange. She singled in the first, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Sophie Catlin pitched for PF Orange. The Oklahoma Cardinals managed just one hit off of Catlin, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her four innings of work.

Sparks’ effort not enough as PF Black falls to the Oklahoma Cardinals 2-0

Baylee Sparks pitched six innings, but PF Black provided little run support, allowing the Oklahoma Cardinals to steal a 2-0 win Sunday. Allison Apke, Bailey Martin, Brenna Finck and Cheyenne Thompson recorded hits for PF Black

PF Black get on top of Oklahoma Twisters early but can’t hang on in 10-7 loss

PF Black came out firing, but couldn’t hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 10-7 ballgame against Oklahoma Twisters on Saturday.

PF Black answered Oklahoma Twisters’ top inning with five runs of its own in the third. PF Black scored on a single by Thompson, an RBI single by Belt, a fielder’s choice, a passed ball, and an RBI double by Martin.

First-inning rally sparks blowout win for PF Black, 11-0

PF Black rolled over the Tulsa Eagles 11-0 on Saturday after an eight-run rally in the first inning.

PF Black scored in the first on a home run by Kaylea Chappelle, an RBI double by Belt, a two-run triple by Finck, and an RBI single by Martin. Chappelle, tossed two innings of shutout ball. She struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Fourth-inning rally sparks blowout win for PF Black, 9-2

PF Black scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Belt, a two-run single by Apke, and a three-run home run by Chappelle.

Lexie Black recorded the win for PF Black. She allowed one run over three innings. She struck out two, walked none and surrendered three hits. Closer Sparks put away the final six outs to record the save.

Premier Fastpitch began as one team in the fall of 2011. The organization now fields two 16U teams and a 14U. Next season PF will compete at the 18U, 16U, and 14U level. The 16U Players are from Carmi, Casey, Charleston, Clinton, Downs, Effingham, Forsyth, Hammond, Lincoln, Maroa, Marshall, Monticello, Oblong, Teutopolis and Tuscola.

The teams travel around the nation to compete at the highest levels possible. Tournaments in Kansas City- Independence Gold Qualifier; Chattanooga- College Exposure tourney (over 170 College Coaches); Pekin Illinois - Gold Qualifier; Kansas City- Olathe- Gold Qualifier; Denver Colorado- College Exposure Event; Moline, IL- ASA State; ASA/USA Nationals
