Premier Fastpitch 16U Gold plays solid at national event

AURORA, COLO – Premier Fastpitch 16U Gold traveled to the 46th Annual Fireworks Tournament in Aurora, Colo. this past week. The Colorado events hosts 1,150 teams from across the US and over 600 college coaches. Premier 16U Gold went 5-2 at the national event and is to compete this coming weekend at ASA A Illinois State Tournament in Pekin.

PF 16U Gold 14, RR Gold 4

Premier scored in the third on an RBI triple by Mycaela Miller, an RBI single by Anna Watson, a two-run double by Morgan Davis, a three-run home run by Baleigh Koester, and an RBI double by Regan Gremaud in Tuesday’s game.

Koester racked up three RBIs on two hits while Watson was 3-4, Davis and Alexis Estes were 2-2. Davis also had four RBI.

Firecrackers Ramos managed just two hits off of Estes, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during her three innings of work.

PF 16U Gold 6, Firecrackers Ramos 2

Premier went up for good in the sixth on an RBI single by Morgan Davis off the Firecrackers’ pitcher, bringing home Jenna Woltman.

Mycaela Miller racked up two RBIs on two hits. She singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning on Wednesday morning.

Ally Wiegand had an impressive outing against Firecrackers’ lineup. They managed just one hit off of Wiegand, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during her three innings of work.

PF 16U Gold 9, Kamikaze 4

Jenna Woltman had four RBIs, sparking Premier to a 9-4 victory in seven innings over Kamikaze 16s on Thursday.

She singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning in Thursday’s first contest.

Estes recorded the win. She allowed one run over three innings. She struck out one, walked one and surrendered one hit. Leah Allison came in on relief and gave up three hits, just one walk and three runs.

Premier went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Calla Wickenhauser and two sacrifice flys.

Premier added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Woltman’s three-run home run got things going, scoring Miller and Gremaud. That was followed up by Eryn Gould’s triple, plating Wiegand.

Firecrackers Brasher 7, PF 16U Gold 1

On Thursday, Premier scored its only run of the game on an RBI single by Wickenhauser in the fifth inning. Davis, Watson and Gould also had hits in the contest.

Koester and Wiegand split the pitching in the time shortened contest. Koester gave up five earned runs on seven hits, walking one and struck out two while Wiegand struck out three, walked no one, with four hits and two earned runs.

Gould scored the only Premier run.

Impact Gold 8, PF 16U Gold 6

Miller reached base three times. She singled in the sixth inning but Premier still fell to Impact Gold- Conner 8-6 in six innings on Friday.

Koester took the loss for Premier. She allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.

PF 16U Gold 9, Northern Ice 1

Premier scored in the third on an RBI single by Gould, an error, an RBI single by Miller, an RBI single by Anna Watson, a sacrifice fly by Woltman, and a two-run single by Davis in Friday’s afternoon game.

Watson was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. Makayla Reedy walked and scored a run.

Northern Ice Elite’s lineup had no answer for Estes. Northern Ice Elite managed just three hits off of Estes, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her four innings of work. Allison came in on relief and gave up a hit, just one walk and allowed no runs.

So-Cal Athletics 4, PF 16U Gold 0

The So-Cal Athletics managed just two hits off of Estes, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none during her four innings of work on Saturday.

Davis had a double while Woltman, Wickenhauser each had singles. Watson was 2-4 with a stolen base.

Premier Fastpitch began as one team in the fall of 2011. The organization now fields two 18U teams, a 16U and two 14U. The PF 18U Gold players are from Carterville, Clinton, Downs, Effingham, Mt. Carmel, Mt. Zion, Monticello, Maroa, Hammond, and Tuscola.
