ASA/USA 16U Gold: Premier Fastpitch teams advance in bracket play

BROKEN ARROW, Okla  -- The Premier Fastpitch 16U teams opened up in bracket play at the 48-team ASA/USA 16U Gold Nationals in Broken Arrow, Okla. The Orange team fell 4-3 in the opening round on Wednesday evening. The Black team won 4-1 on Thursday morning and the Orange stayed alive in the loser’s bracket with a 9-5 win over the Clearwater Bullets in the afternoon.

PF Black downs Texas Originals- Self 4-1

Brenna Finck went 2-4, helping PF Black to a 4-1 victory over Texas Originals- Self on Thursday at ASA Gold Nationals in Broken Arrow, Okla. She singled in the first and fifth innings.
Kaylea Chappelle was a workhorse in the circle for PF Black. Chappelle pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out one.
The lead stayed with PF Black after the first, when it scored one run on an RBI single by Allison Apke.
PF Black added two more runs in the top of the fifth. A clutch scored Finck to open the scoring in the frame.
Finck also score three runs. Bailey Martin, Apke and Cheyenne Thompson each singled. Chappelle was 2-3.

TN Elite Fastpitch survives PF Orange rally, escapes with 4-3 victory

PF Orange wasn’t able to come back from the big hole it dug itself into against TN Elite Fastpitch, and PF Orange lost 4-3 to TN Elite Fastpitch after falling behind by four runs in the fifth inning.
PF Orange scored three runs in the sixth on a three-run double by Jenna Woltman.
Megan Tool had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. She singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the first and sixth innings. Ally Wiegand and Sophie Catlin each walked while Haley Ginger hit a single. Runs were scored by Katherine Kennedy, Ginger and Tool.
Leah Allison suffered the loss. She lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.

PF Orange wins 9-5 over Clearwater Bullets

Mycaela Miller racked up three RBIs on two hits for PF Orange in a 9-5 win over the Clearwater Bullets on Thursday. She homered in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.
PF Orange never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Catlin and an RBI single by Madalyn Cooper.
In the fourth, PF Orange scored on a three-run home run by Miller, bringing home Ginger and Kaley Maurer.
It didn’t take long for PF Orange to answer as it scored three runs of its own in the sixth. PF Orange scored on a three-run triple by Catlin.
Ginger was 2-3 with a walk, three runs. Tool had a single, RBI and a run while Catlin got credit for a triple and a double for four RBI.

Kadi Borries hurls gem, but PF Black falls In 2-0 loss to Tulsa Elit

Kadi Borries allowed just two runs on Thursday at ASA Gold Nationals, but PF Black couldn't get the offense going in a 2-0 defeat to Tulsa Elite
Borries was a workhorse in the circle for PF Black. Borries pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out five.
Brigette Belt, Martin, and Chapelle each hit singles. Apke had a walk.

PF Orange takes early lead on single, holds on for 5-2 win over the Tulsa Eagles

PF Orange jumped on the Tulsa Eagles early on its way to a 5-2 win scoring three runs in the first inning.
PF Orange scored in the first on an RBI single by Tool and an RBI single by Woltman.
Leah Allison brought the heat against the Tulsa Eagles during her outing. Allison gave up just three hits, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out three during her five innings of work.
PF Orange built upon its lead with two runs in the fourth. Kennedy kicked things off with a single, bringing home Catlin. That was followed up by Cooper's double, plating Kennedy.
Woltman was 2-3 with an RBI.  Maurer, Miller, Wiegand, Caitlin, Tool and Kennedy all singled.
 Premier Fastpitch began as one team in the fall of 2011. The organization now fields two 16U teams and a 14U. Next season PF will compete at the 18U, 16U, and 14U level. The 16U Players are from Carmi, Casey, Charleston, Clinton, Downs, Effingham, Forsyth, Hammond, Lincoln, Maroa, Marshall, Monticello, Oblong, Teutopolis and Tuscola.
